SOULJA BOY DANCE

Soulja Boy
from Wikipedia

"DeAndre Cortez Way (born July 28, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois), better known by his stage name Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, or simply Soulja Boy, is an American rapper. In September 2007, his single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He produced his whole album Souljaboytellem.com using just the demo version of FL Studio."

"In November 2005 Soulja Boy, along with another rapper "Arab" posts his songs on the music-based social community SoundClick. Following positive reviews on SoundClick, Soulja Boy opens a YouTube account on January 13, 2006 so "... people can put your face to the things you spitting." The following month Soulja expanded onto MySpace to increase his fan base. A year later in March 2007 he would record "Crank That" and release his first independent album Unsigned and Sill Major. On April 11th a low budget video is filmed demonstrating the "Soulja Boy" dance. By the end of May 2007 "Crank That" receives its first air play and Soulja Boy meets with Mr. Collipark to sign a deal with Interscope Records. August 12, 2007, the song appears on the Emmy-award winning HBO series Entourage and by September 1st it has broken into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and tops the Billboard Hot RingMasters chart."

That's right, he's 17. And he recorded his "hit" song in March, by himself, probably alone in his room, on his computer using demo software. This past March, that's 8 months ago, and he was unsigned with a Myspace account. He wasn't even signed until May. In September his song his NUMBER ONE on the Billboard top 100. 4 months, Youtube and Myspace.

it's funny that he says "you know what I'm saying" so many times, because really I usually don't know what he's saying. Damn caveman islands. It's also funny that they're filming this in a pool, and he has THE NUMBER ONE SINGLE ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS. Almost as ridiculous as his accent.

I'd also like to note that you may want to take a nice, long break in between viewings of any video containing "Crank That," because you will end up saying "youuuuuu" everytime you try to speak to someone, and it gets embarrassing. I also have really wanted a super soaker all day .

Amazing. A flawless performance by the 4'11" 35 year old in the middle. The metrosexual ghost on the right does a decent job, and the one on the left looks like a giraffe for most of the video.
Snap, Crackle aaaaaaaand Pop

There's also videos similar to the Winnie the Pooh "mash-dizzle", most notably a Lion King one with over 6 MILLION views, and a Spongebob Squarepants one with over 18 MILLION views - but they were just too corny to post. I couldn't even watch them all the way through, but if you want, you can see them here and here.

*on second thought, I am going to post the Lion King one. Reading the comments and profile of the girl who created it...it just all makes too much sense.

About the Video: FIRST OF ALL I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT HOW THE SPONGEBOB ONE IS BETTER OR HOW THE WINNIE THE POOH ONE IS BETTER OR HOW ANY OTHER SOULJA BOY VIDEO IS BETTER ALL RIGHT! I MADE THIS FOR FOR FUN NOT FOR A FREAKIN' COMPETITION! ANY SUCH COMMENTS WILL BE REMOVED. THANK YOU! I'm a very big Naruto, Naruto Shippuuden, Inuyasha, Avatar The Last Airbender, and W.I.T.C.H. fan. I got my user name from a fantasy-made Inuyasha character that me and my twin sister drew together, and his name is Inusha because he is the make believe little brother of Inuyasha. ^^ My favorite video games are the Kingdom Hearts series. You can tell when I make an AMV because I put the title of that anime it was from at the end or the beginning. In my spare time I like to read Naruto manga in Shonen Jump books and write Naruto,The Lion King, and Kingdom Hearts fan fiction and play video games or watch anime on TV. I'm very outgoing and I talk so much that its hard for me to shut up lol! Video Game Consoles I usually play at home are:

THE TOXIC AVENGER

Recently, I was walking down the street, any old street, between a nuclear reactor and a landfill, and I started thinking to myself..."man, kids today really need a hero who totally cares about the environment. Not some oversized child like Al Gore...someone cool." Then I realized that there already was someone like that...Captain Planet (and his crew of stereotypes). Then I realized that what would be waaaay more awesome was the opposite of that guy, because let's face it, Captain Planet was as homoerotic as pro wrestling, plus he hung out with little kids all day, and in the end he was a pussy. It's true. He looked like the sexual doodles Screech would draw during class. His parents later found them and said that it "explained a lot."
Then I realized that there is someone so cool that they are able to take all of the bad things about pollution and turn them into an awesome, crime-fighting role model for kids. Did anyone else watch the Toxic Crusaders as a kid, or play the AWESOME Sega Genesis video game? This is where it all came from...

PLOT
"Melvin Ferd (Mark Torgl), is the stereotypical 98-pound weakling (later Toxic Avenger movies changed the character's name to Melvin Junko). He works at Tromaville Health Club, where the customers (particularly Bozo (Gary Schneider), Slug (Robert Pritchard), Wanda (Jennifer Babtist) and Julie (Cindy Manion)) harass him constantly. His tormentors get more and more violent until he is tricked into wearing a pink tutu and kissing a sheep. He is then chased around the health club by laughing witnesses of the event where he eventually jumps out of a second story window. He lands in a drum of toxic waste and is irradiated and deformed by the accident. He suddenly lights on fire and runs down the street in a screaming ball of flames"

He then spends the rest of the movie fighting crime and falling in love. The point is - awesome.

The Toxic Avenger was first released in late 1985, and was virtually ignored upon its first release. The film was followed by two unsuccessful sequels: The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie. A third independent film sequel/remake was also released, entitled Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV.

Parts II and III were seen as disappointing by many fans, some of whom accused Troma of selling out, due to the films having far less violence and offensive humour when compared to the original film. There was also an animated children's TV series spin-off, Toxic Crusaders, where Toxie was the leader of a team of mutated superheroes who fought against evil alien polluters. The cartoon series was short-lived and it was quickly canceled.

*Good idea - make an animated kids show about movies that were criticized for becoming less violent and offensive. I've never wanted to play in toxic sludge more.

Recently, Lloyd Kaufman (the original director) and Adam Jahnke wrote a novelization entitled The Toxic Avenger: The Novel. It was released on May 10, 2006 and was published by Thunder's Mouth Press. It was also adapted as a musical, on two occasions. The first, Toxic Avenger: The Musical, debuted at Omaha's Blue Barn Theatre in 2004. Later, the movie was adapted as a musical as Toxic Avenger: The Musikill. Kaufman reportedly had nothing to do with the production, although he did verbally support Kortum's adaptation and attended the production on Opening Night.

DUTCH CALL TV

I know you've seen those late night call-in game shows starring babes who basically just try to coax you into texting them for money but kind of look like bad whores because they're obviously alone in a TV studio.

Here's something I've noticed since beginning this youtube

The Charleston

The Charleston is a dance named for the city of Charleston, South Carolina. The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States of America by a 1923 tune called The Charleston by composer/pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade.

While it developed in African-American communities in the USA, the Charleston became a popular dance craze in the wider international community in the 1920s. Despite its black history, Charleston is most frequently associated with white flappers and the speakeasy. Here, these young women would dance alone or together as a way of mocking the "drys," or citizens who supported the Prohibition amendment, as Charleston was then considered quite immoral and provocative.

Charleston was one of the dances from which Lindy Hop developed in the 1930s, though the Breakaway (dance) is popularly considered an intermediary dance form. A slightly different form of Charleston became popular in the 1930s and 40s, and is associated with Lindy Hop. In this later Charleston form, the hot jazz timing of the 1920s Charleston was adapted to suit the swing jazz music of the 30s and 40s. This style of Charleston has many common names, though the most common are 'Lindy Charleston', 'Savoy Charleston', '30s or 40s Charleston' and 'Swing(ing) Charleston'. In both '20s Charleston' and 'Swinging Charleston' the basic step takes 8 counts and was danced either alone or with a partner.

RAY CHARLES RING OF FIRE

On the Johnny Cash Show

JOHNNY CASH and JUNE CARTER

Johnny Cash & June Carter's Love Poem, 1967

"...Cash finally landed an audition with Sun Records and its founder, Sam Phillips, in 1955. Initially, Cash presented himself as a gospel singer, but Phillips turned him down. Phillips asked him to come back with something more commercial. Cash returned with "Hey Porter," which immediately caught Phillips' ear. Soon, Cash released "Cry Cry Cry"/"Hey Porter" as his debut single for Sun. "Cry Cry Cry" became a success upon its release in 1955, entering the country charts at number 14 and leading to a spot on The Louisiana Hayride, where he stayed for nearly a year. A second single, "Folsom Prison Blues," reached the country Top Five in early 1956 and its follow-up, "I Walk the Line," was number one for six weeks and crossed over into the pop Top 20."

Though his success continued in the years to come, "the relentless pace of his career was beginning to take a toll on Cash. In 1959, he had begun taking amphetamines to help him get through his schedule of nearly 300 shows a year. By 1961, his drug intake had increased dramatically and his work was affected, which was reflected by a declining number of hit singles and albums. By 1963, he had moved to New York, leaving his family behind. He was running into trouble with the law, most notably for starting a forest fire out West. June Carter -- who was the wife of one of Cash's drinking buddies, Carl Smith -- would provide Cash with his return to the top of the charts with "Ring of Fire," which she co-wrote with Merle Kilgore."

"Cash's comeback was short-lived as he sank further into addiction, and his hit singles arrived sporadically. Cash was arrested in El Paso for attempting to smuggle amphetamines into the country through his guitar case in 1965. That same year, the Grand Ole Opry refused to have him perform and he wrecked the establishment's footlights. In 1966, his wife Vivian filed for divorce. After the divorce, Cash moved to Nashville. At first, he was as destructive as he ever had been, but he became close friends with June Carter. With Carter's help, he was able to shake his addictions; she also converted Cash to fundamentalist Christianity. His career began to bounce back as "Jackson" and "Rosanna's Going Wild" became Top Ten hits. Early in 1968, Cash proposed marriage to Carter during a concert; the pair were married that spring."

I'LL DIE YOUNG BUT IT'S LIKE KISSING GOD

Lenny Bruce (October 13, 1925 – August 3, 1966), born Leonard Alfred Schneider, was a controversial American stand-up comedian, writer, social critic and satirist of the 1950s and 1960s. His 1964 conviction in an obscenity trial was also controversial, eventually leading to the first posthumous pardon in New York history.

Bruce shocked his audiences--intentionally so. But Bruce, according to Kenneth Tyson, wanted his audience to be shocked by the right things--greed, repression, hypocricy--not by four-letter words and sexual references. Unfortunately for Bruce, it was the four-letter words that attracted the most attention. As one obscenity arrest followed another from 1962 to 1964, Bruce began a downward spiral leading to bankruptcy, drug addiction, and eventually his August 3, 1966 death from an overdose of morphine.

Early Lenny on the Steve Allen show

"This was the moment that an obscure yet rapidly rising young comedian named Lenny Bruce chose to give one of the greatest performances of his career [Carnegie Hall, 1961]... The performance contained in this album is that of a child of the jazz age. Lenny worshipped the gods of Spontaneity, Candor and Free Association. He fancied himself an oral jazzman. His ideal was to walk out there like Charlie Parker, take that mike in his hand like a horn and blow, blow, blow everything that came into his head just as it came into head with nothing censored, nothing translated, nothing mediated, until he was pure mind, pure head sending out brainwaves like radio waves into the heads of every man and woman seated in that vast hall. Sending, sending, sending, he would finally reach a point of clairvoyance where he was no longer a performer but rather a medium transmitting messages that just came to him from out there - from recall, fantasy, prophecy. A point at which, like the practitioners of automatic writing, his tongue would outrun his mind and he would be saying things he didn't plan to say, things that surprised, delighted him, cracked him up - as if he were a spectator at his own performance!"

The second show before he died.

In 1951, he was arrested in Miami, Florida, for impersonating a priest. He was soliciting donations for a leper colony in British Guiana after he legally chartered the "Brother Mathias Foundation" (a name of his own invention- but possibly taken from the actual Brother Matthias who had befriended Babe Ruth at the orphanage that Ruth had been confined to as a child), and, unknown to the police, stole several priests' clergy shirts and a clerical collar while posing as a laundry man. He was found not guilty due to the legality of the New York state-chartered foundation, the actual existence of the Guiana leper colony, and the inability of the local clergy to expose him as an impostor. Later in his semifictional autobiography How to Talk Dirty and Influence People, he revealed that he had made approximately $8,000 in three weeks, sending $2,500 to the leper colony and keeping the rest.

From Wikipedia:
Tap dance was developed in the United States during the nineteenth century, and is popular nowadays in many parts of the world. The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard floor.
Tap dancing as such may have begun in the 1830s in the Five Points neighborhood of New York City as a fusion of Irish and African Shuffle. Dancers from different immigrant groups would get together to compete and show off their best moves. According to theory, as the dances fused, a new American style of dancing emerged.

On Tuesday 9 October 1934, however, he had no choice, as he was arriving in Marseille to start a state visit to the Third French Republic, to strengthen the two countries' alliance in the Little Entente. While being driven in a car through the streets along with French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou, a gunman, Vlado Chernozemski, stepped from the street and shot the King and the chauffeur. The Minister was accidentally shot by a French policeman and died later.
